Save Texas Schools Rally - March 12, 2011

We need volunteers to help with calling parents and families in the Houston area to share with them the details of this rally.  It is important to share with them information about the budget cuts public schools face.  This Statewide March & Rally - Austin, TX
Saturday, March 12
March: 11:00 a.m. starting at 12th & Trinity
Rally: Noon-2:00 p.m. at State Capitol Bldg, 11^th & Congress

Magnolia Park - Community Garden    

  Located in the East End of Houston, Magnolia Park is a historic community rich in cultral heritage.   Once an overgrown vacant lot, this now productive piece of land is the fruit of months of collaboration with Local Initiative Support Corporation, Texans Together, Community Family Centers and Magnolia Park residents.  All supplies have been bought with grant money or donated through various organizations and all labor is from volunteers of the local residents.  Each Saturday morning volunteers wake up to tend to the vegetables and work side by side with their neighbors.  Volunteers of all ages are always welcome and they can expect to spend their time socializing with the locals, weeding, maintaining the land the garden beds are on and planting or harvesting vegetables. 

Alief - Apartments as Communities
